TL;DR of this section: I’m a CMU grad, your current Mayor, & not quite 30 years old. My wife and I live on the west side of town with the most spoiled cat in the world & we feel duty- bound to care for this community the way it has cared for us.
I’m originally from Grayling Michigan, a rural town in Northern Lower Michigan with a deep connection to the natural environment around it and the river which runs through it. My older sister and I were raised by our mother.
I came to Mount Pleasant in 2015 to study at Central Michigan University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Minor in History.
In late 2019 I began volunteering with the Anthony Feig Campaign for Congress, and in early 2020 I had the opportunity to serve as an election inspector while briefly living with my family in the Houghton Lake area.
Later in 2020 I started living with my future wife, Haley, back here in Mount Pleasant as she worked to finish her degree. I would begin working at Isabella Community Credit Union as a Teller, and later as a Financial Service Representative- a role I still maintain to this day..
In 2022 my friend and mentor Anthony Feig encouraged me to run for the Mount Pleasant City Commission. After a hard run campaign- my first time seeking public office, the people of Mount Pleasant elected me to serve on the City Commission.
Concerned about organizational issues presenting within the City organization, in 2025 my fellow commissioners chose to change leadership, and I had the honor to begin serving as Vice-Mayor. About two weeks in, personal decisions led the Mayor to resign and I stepped up into the position of Mayor to carry out the balance of the term.
That same year, Haley and I were married in a small ‘elopement’ style ceremony held at the very same place we had our first date- Ponder Coffee. We wanted to have something small for ourselves to connect us back to where we began. In October, we had a full wedding for our friends and family to share in.
In 2026, I had the honor of being chosen by my fellow City Commissioners to continue serving as Mayor- a role I continue to proudly serve in at this time.
When I decided to run for City Commissioner in 2022, I was not yet 25. By the time the 2026 election is decided I will be 29. I ran for office to be a part of the change I wanted to see in the world; that so many of us want to see. What I have learned these past four years is that the work doesn’t stop- the work continues.
